Located between Wistow, Woodchester & Hartley is the area known as Red Creek. Primarily a farming area with a scattering of lifestyle properties, you get a sense of past colonial times as you drive through. First established around 1856 the early settlers were primarily from Scotland & Germany and the road was used to travel to the goldfields. The old ruins by the Red Creek itself are a reminder of the old ‘coaching house’, outdoor wood ovens & domestic buildings. It was on a property not far from here that some scenes from the film ‘Hammers over the Anvil’, featuring Russell Crowe, were shot.
