Charming Cottage amongst Delightful Garden
From the moment you see this property you will fall in love. Since the first stones were laid in the early 1870’s the cottage has only had 4 owners. Once you have wandered through the garden and experienced the charming, welcoming feel of the home it’s easy to understand why. Now, after approximately 145 years of history, this home could be yours.
The original cottage was only 2 rooms. With high ceilings and decorative light fittings these rooms have become the main bedroom and lounge with main entrance and open fireplace. A tasteful extension beyond the lounge houses a great sized 2 bedroom and 3rd bedroom/study/nursery.
A functional kitchen with garden outlook and spacious yet intimate dining room were the next rooms built adjoining the lounge. In the 1920s the local blacksmith, Louis Victor Caust, had a large family residing in the home. The dining room was utilised as the girl’s bedroom whilst the boys slept in a sleep out located upon what is now a large living room extension.
This room would have to be my favourite. It is light filled and has gorgeous exposed stone which was once the exterior wall. It also overlooks the rear garden and houses a slow combustion heater for the cooler months of the year.
The brightly coloured bathroom, separate toilet, laundry and 4th bedroom are situated on the western side of the home. It’s important to note that each bedroom has its own level of privacy rather than being bundled together as you’d see in most modern homes.
Every room captures a different angle of the garden, tempting you to go outside and enjoy it. For this reason I believe a family would most enjoy living here. The children could explore the many hidden areas of the garden, climb the 3 magnificent oak trees and experience a multitude of birdlife. However, I’m sure all buyers will appreciate the cottage, location and peaceful living environment.
